ANZAC Day Newcastle

Hi All,

Wow it was raining in Adelaide....What the??

You guys looked great, nice turn out considering the conditions.

I had my first ANZAC Day parade with City of Newcastle RSL Pipes & Drums....Wow, what a day and what a turn out we had. All up we had 20 Pipers, 5 Tenors, 6 Sides and our Base Drummer.

Marched through the city, attended the main ceremony in the city and I was given the honour along with two other Pipers to play the Lament (Flowers of the Forest) during the laying of the wreaths which went for about 20 minutes. We then re-formed up and with a Police escort we Piped our way back through the city to Newcastle RSL Club with a large crowd of people following behind, and played there. After that the band then went to Adamstown RSL, then Mayfield RSL and then finishing at Kotara Bowling Club. Big Day. My day began playing at Dawn Service on the RAAF Base at 5:30. Long day, but an extremely memoriable one. I've attached a pic for you all.

Missing you all and love looking at the Web and the Blog to see how you guys are doing.

Cheers,

Andrew.

p.s. Tina hopes to be up and going with the band after the baby is born in August, she's pretty keen.
