Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) Trooper Mark Donaldson V.C. was awarded the first Australian Victoria Cross in January 2009.

During a heavy engagement with the Taliban in Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan, Trooper Donaldson ran 80 metres across open ground under heavy fire to rescue a wounded comrade.

Yes Bill, it's a great and typically inspiring military story. AS with any blokes who do things beyond the normal military requirements (whatever they are!) The tune looks a wee treat too, I'll have to have a bit of a go at it.
Is this going to be an official tune, as in for official ADF use, or is it just one you've put together by way of honouring TPR Donaldson? Being up here in Townsville and being associated with some of the RAR lads, I believe the Army Pipes and Drums are all becoming reserve units before much longer. I think it's a pity but I know how it works when it comes down to the $$.
Either way, I would like to introduce this to the Townsville RSL Memorial P & D if that is possible. The PM there is a WO2 at 2RAR and I'm sure he'd be interested.
Well done sir!

Dean,

Bill is having a wee bit of trouble with his computer at the moment, so a reply might be delayed a bit.

I am sure he will be on to it as soon as possible.
